Safety Interlock

Interlock switches provide another layer of safety in industrial production environments, helping protect operators and equipment from the hazards of unexpected machine motion. IDEC offers a complete lineup of safety interlock switches to keep your personnel and production assets safe from harm. After simple installation into your safety circuit, interlock switches make sure doors and gates are closed before any machine or process can begin. IDEC’s family of HS safety interlock switches comes in a wide range of sizes, contact configurations and available functions to meet the needs of multiple applications. From machine tools and material handling equipment to packaging lines and semiconductor manufacturing, interlock switches are a robust and reliable method to help guarantee operator safety. Switches feature either metal or plastic heads and bodies and offer connection options to fit just about any safeguarding application. As with all IDEC safety products, HS interlock switches comply with domestic and European safety standards.

  1. HS6E Submniature Locking
    HS6E Submniature Locking
The HS6E series safety interlock switch provides a cost effective solenoid door interlock in a compact housing. A total of 4 circuit configurations for both spring and solenoid lock types can be found with standard 3 meter cable. Along with flexible mounting directions you can have up to 4 actuation entry points and 5 different actuator keys, the HS6E can be used to meet any of your simplest safety applications.Spring Lock TypeAutomatically locks the actuator without power to the solenoid. Unlocking is accomplished by energizing the solenoid, providing a high level of safety. Manual unlocking is possible in the event of power failure or maintenance.Solenoid Lock TypeThe actuator is locked only when actuator is in place and is solenoid energized. The actuator is unlocked when de-energized.
  2. HS6B Subminiature
    HS6B Subminiature
The HS6B is the smallest three-contact enabling switch currently on the market, and will fit in even the tightest areas, so you have safety in every necessary location. The design allows the highest level of safety by having 3 total contacts, dual load contacts plus a monitoring contact (as per ISO13849-1, EN954-1). Two key entrances provide flexibility for installation options.
  3. HS5L Miniature Locking
    HS5L Miniature Locking
A 4-contact type ideal for applications with limited installation space, such as small doors. A 2-contact type solenoid safety switch optimal for Category 2 applications like food machinery and injection molding machines.
  4. HS1T Heavy Duty Locking
    HS1T Heavy Duty Locking
Maximum locking force and compact packaging combined with the industry’s best strength-to-size ratio make this switch ideal for safeguarding machinery and equipment. Our new HS1T interlock switch provides safety, performance and cost advantages for equipment manufacturers, machinery builders, packaged system designers, robotics implementations and OEMs of all types. The device is suitable for many industries and can serve as the preferred model for many applications. This interlock switch delivers an industry-leading 5000N of locking force and meets the requirements of ISO 14119:203 for Lock Monitoring where both the status of the position and the locking function of a protective door can be monitored through the lock monitoring contact. By using this interlock switch fewer on-board contacts are needed to achieve redundant safety circuits and additional monitoring circuits, reducing the amount of wiring on the device. Installers will also appreciate that the HS1T has multiple available cable entry ports, with faster and more reliable wiring connections made possible by spring clamp terminals. These connections offer excellent vibration resistance, prevent wires from loosening and never need tightening.
  5. HS3A Non-Contact RFID
    HS3A Non-Contact RFID
The product itself has obtained Safety Category 4 certification. Introducing the RFID-type non-contact safety switch!
  6. HS7A-DMP Non-Contact Magnetic
    HS7A-DMP Non-Contact Magnetic
Added a 3-contact type. The auxiliary contacts allow the open/closed status of each door to be monitored by a PLC or similar device.
  7. HS7A-DMC Non-Contact Magnetic
    HS7A-DMC Non-Contact Magnetic
Compact size makes positioning during installation easy. When combined with a dedicated safety relay module, it can support up to Category 4 (EN ISO 13849-1).
  8. HS5E-K Miniature Locking
    HS5E-K Miniature Locking
A safety switch that locks and unlocks with a key. It also supports explosion-proof safety and mechanical safety in explosive atmospheres.
