Sunnyvale - IDEC Corporation ,worldwide manufacturer of control automation devices and programmable logic controllers announces an addition to the IDEC SmartRelay series. Now there are expansion I/O units available to enhance this universal logic module and create an even more customized control and monitoring solution.

More advanced than a time delay relay, but easier to use than a Micro PLC, the IDEC SmartRelay series fills the need for a small, flexible control and monitoring device. It is the ideal solution for managing automatic lighting, access control, watering systems, pump control, or ventilation systems. Each base CPU module has 12 built-in I/O points (digital/analog inputs, 6 digital, plus 2 analog or digital; 4 digital outputs) and a real-time clock and calendar.

IDEC SmartRelay integrates programming and display functions into the control unit with an on-board display (LCD) and keypad. Enter and modify programs, or monitor status information, with no need for additional hardware. Use the optional plug-in memory cartridges to save programs or transfer them between CPU modules.

There are four available expansion modules, which will work with any FL1B series SmartRelay CPU. Three are combination I/O modules with 4 input and 4 output points: 12/24V DC with DC input and relay output, 24V DC with DC input and transistor output, and 100-240V AC/DC with AC/DC input with relay output. There is also a 2-input 24V DC analog module available. A maximum of 16 extra inputs and 12 extra digital outputs can be added to the CPU, as well as 8 analog inputs; the maximum number of expansion modules is four combination modules and four analog modules.
