Compatibility

What's the difference between the FL1B version of the SmartRelay and the new FL1C version of the SmartRelay?

The FL1C is an expanded memory version of the FL1B. New functionality as well as a greatly expanded memory is included in the FL1C. The new hardware and software functions are as follows:

Hardware

  • 32bit CPU
  • New Memory Cartridge. (Note: The FL1A/1B memory cartridges are not compatible with the new FL1C)
  • 4 x 12 character back-lit LED display

Software

  • 130 function blocks are available for circuit programming
  • Function blocks with timers have retentive memory (REM)
  • Cursor keys on the front operation panel can be used for inputs
  • Special functions such as "Shift Register," "Analog Amplifier, " "Analog Value Monitoring," and "Analog Differential Switch" are added
  • Invert individual inputs without using Not function block
  • Basic function blocks are expanded to 4 inputs
  • User can now test circuit programs on-line using a PC
  • Parameters for certain functions can also be derived from analog values or counter values
  • Fast inputs (I5, I6) can be used with Up/Down counter
  • Ladder logic programming is now also possible
  • Decimal point display for text messages

The circuit program used with the FL1B can also be used with the FL1C.

What is the initialization time required for the FL1C after power is applied?

Initialization begins when the FL1C is turned on. For FL1C model with LCD, an hourglass appears on the display panel during the initialization process. For FL1C model without LCD, the red LED light flashes during the initialization process.
Use of an expansion module does not affect the initialization time.
If the memory cartridge is used: 10 seconds Max.
If the memory cartridge is not used: 9 seconds Max.
Please note that the initialization time varies depending upon the program size.
